Nagpur, Dec 12 – Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve, alleged that the BJP-led government made many announcements for development of Marathwada region in the Cabinet meeting held on September 16, but these announcements were not included in the supplementary demand as they remained on paper.

Making a frontal attack on government in the upper house on Monday, he said that Rs 14,000 crore have been approved for an irrigation project in Marathwada by the Water Resources’ department.
However, despite a demand of Rs 50 crore for the survey of that project, not a single rupee was given for it, he claimed.

Furthermore, the work on Jigaon project in Gosikhurd and Buldhana districts of Vidarbha is pending since 2007, he also claimed.
The Dandekar Committee, Kelkar Committee had suggested to make provisions for development of Vidarbha-Marathwada but these reports were ignored, he continued.

Danve expressed displeasure about no provision has been made for a Textile Park in Amravati district, Seed Park in Jalna and Sambhajinagar Airport.

Similarly, no provision had been made for the Marathwada Watergrid Project. Danve accused the Water Resources department of deliberately doing injustice to these projects and of neglecting allocation of funds and irrigation projects. He also demanded that a sports university should be established in Marathwada.
