Mumbai,Dec 2 – Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee(MPCC) President Nana Patole on Friday said that, the BJP government is not taking the drought situation seriously.

Only slogans are being raised when farmers need help. This government spends heavily on advertising and is hand-wringing about paying farmers, Patole said, adding the aid announced in the cabinet to the affected farmers is minimal and substantial aid should be announced.

He warned that the Congress will ask the government to answer in the winter assembly session.
Speaking to the media after the party core committee meeting held at Tilak Bhavan here, Patole said there was a serious discussion on the burning issues faced by the people including drought, farmers’ problems, unemployment and inflation.

The farmers of the state are currently in a big crisis but the BJP government is not helping them. The help announced by the government earlier has not reached the farmers.
The Congress party will go to the assembly and on the streets to get help for the farmers, he added.
