Dharashiv, Dec 4 – The city unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau on Saturday arrested an agricultural officer while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant at Agriculture office in Kalamb taluka of the district.
Officer Santosh Baburao Hurgat (50) had sought Rs 20,000 as bribe from complainant for preparing the budget / proposal for the collective farm ponds approved under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission and uploading the proposal and sending it for grant.
Reluctant to pay the bribe, complainant on Friday lodged a complaint with city unit of ACB, whose team today laid a trap and caught red-handed the officer with the bribe money.
A case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at local Kalamb police station against the accused, an official press statement issued by ACB stated.
