Nagpur, Dec 20 – Industries Minister Uday Samant revealed in the Maharashtra Assembly that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is set to convene a meeting post the winter session to discuss the issue of unauthorised constructions in the Thane Municipal Corporation area.

Responding to concerns raised by member Sanjay Kelkar about unauthorised constructions in Majiwada and Balkum areas of Thane, Minister Samant reported a case of a 200-square-foot unauthorised construction in Majiwada. He emphasized that a notice under the MRTP (Monopolies & Restrictive Trade Practices) Act has been issued, and appropriate action is currently in progress.

Furthermore, the minister highlighted ongoing constructions in Mhada 1 and 2 at Balkum, stating that actions are being taken under section 268 of the MRTP Act. He assured that Chief Minister Shinde will address the matter comprehensively after the conclusion of the winter session.

The government’s proactive stance involves legal measures and notices under the MRTP Act to curb unauthorised constructions and ensure the integrity of urban planning in the Thane region.
