Andhra Pradesh, Oct 26: Eluru Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ashok Kumar on Wednesday said that special measures were initiated to curb the menace of Ganja cultivation and smuggling in the state.
Talking to media persons during his annual inspection visit to Peddapuram circle police station near here, Ashok said that through an intelligence network, entire information regarding the Ganja cultivation areas, corridor used for Ganja smuggling and the retail sellers was being collected.
Under the special action plan, every effort was being made to put an end to ganja cultivation and smuggling catching hold of the agencies involved in the clandestine business, he said.
In every police station, special staff were on the job of collecting information on Ganja smugglers and anyone having information about ganja sales in their areas , should cooperate with the police by informing them by dialing toll free number 14500 for prompt action, the DIG said.


Referring to the safety of the police on duty, he said modern information technology was being used to ensure police safety and also maintenance of law and order.


He said in every police station one or two police personnel were deployed on special duty of controlling the cyber crimes in addition to arranging toll free number 10309 for receiving complaints on cyber crimes.
Kakinada district SP S. Sathish Kumar, Additional SP P Srinivas, Peddapuram DSP Latha Kumari, CIs of Peddapuram and Samalkot Ravi Kumar and Durga Prasad accompanied the DIG during the visit .
