New Delhi, Dec 20 – Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra, who was expelled from Lok Sabha on charges of misconduct, approached the Delhi High Court on Tuesday against the Directorate of Estate’s order cancelling her government accommodation and directing her to vacate by January 7, 2024.

Moitra in her petition has urged the Delhi High Court to direct the Estate’s office to cancel its eviction order passed on December 11, as it is “premature” since the petition challenging her expulsion from Lok Sabha is pending in the Supreme Court.

Moitra urged the court to direct the Estate’s office to allow her to retain possession of the house till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha on December 8 for allegedly unethical conduct. Pursuant to the expulsion order, her government accommodation was also canceled by the Estate’s office on December 11, and she has been served a notice to evict the house by January 7, 2024.

Moitra has challenged her expulsion from Lok Sabha in the Supreme Court which will come up for hearing on January 3, 2024.
