Shimla, Dec 7 – Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu addressed recent reports of discord between the Pradesh Congress Committee and his government, asserting that both entities are aligned in their efforts to bolster the Congress party in the state. Responding to statements made by State Congress President Rani Pratibha Singh, Sukhu clarified that the upcoming celebration rally scheduled for December 11 in Dharmshala had been discussed with the Congress party. He emphasized that there is no tension between the government and the party, underscoring unity and cooperation to fortify the state unit.

The Chief Minister’s response comes amid internal political dynamics within the state Congress, with purported power struggles between Singh and Sukhu. The tussle is evident as both factions seek influence and control within the party. In the midst of this, loyalists aligned with Pratibha Singh are reportedly eager for induction into the state council of ministers, a move that could potentially impact the power dynamics within the party. Meanwhile, Sukhu may aim to consolidate his influence by appointing loyalists to key positions, given the existing vacancies in the council of ministers.

The developments reflect the broader challenges faced by the Congress party, which has recently lost power in two states. The party’s focus in Himachal Pradesh appears to be navigating internal rifts, establishing cohesion, and strategizing for future electoral contests. The upcoming celebration rally, despite initial reports of discord, serves as a platform for the party to showcase unity and present a cohesive front to its supporters in the state.
