Kannur, Nov 27 – Customs sleuths on Sunday seized 984 grams of smuggled gold valued at around Rs 60 lakh from a passenger, who arrived from Muscat on an Air India Express flight, at Kannur International Airport.
The operation was carried out by the Assistant Commissioner V P Bab- led team. They detained a passenger hailing from Nadapuram in Kozhikode district in this connection.
The gold was extracted from the four gold compound capsules weighing 1073 grams concealed inside his body. Further investigation is underway, Customs sources said.
