Lucknow, Dec 2 – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his happiness and relief as he met the workers from the state who were trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister inquired about their well-being, listened to their experiences during the challenging ordeal, and assured them of continued support.

A total of eight laborers from Uttar Pradesh were trapped in the tunnel accident in Uttarkashi. After spending 16 days in the tunnel, they were successfully rescued on the 17th day. During the interaction, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the courage and patience of the laborers, felicitating them with shawls on behalf of the UP government and providing sweets and gifts.

“I am happy that all the laborers from UP trapped in the tunnel incident have safely returned and are now going back to their homes. The state government is standing with its people in every difficult time and will continue to do so,” stated Yogi Adityanath.

On the Chief Minister’s directives, a nodal officer was appointed by the state government to provide real-time information about the trapped laborers, and their families were updated daily about their situation. Yogi Adityanath himself closely monitored the situation.

During the meeting, one of the laborers shared their experiences, mentioning that when the incident occurred, they realized there was damage to the oxygen pipe. As they proceeded further, debris came from the front, shattering their courage.

He explained that the tunnel, where they were trapped, had a length of 2.5 kilometers and a width of 14 meters. Sufficient oxygen was available for two to three days, and the rest of the assistance was provided by the company and the government. The workers expressed gratitude for the efforts made by the UP government and emphasized that both the company and the government ensured there was no power outage inside the tunnel.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inquired about the duration of their work in the tunnel in Uttarakhand. The workers expressed gratitude for the meeting with the Chief Minister, stating that his encouragement uplifted their morale during the challenging incident.

The meeting highlighted the resilience of the trapped laborers and the coordinated efforts of the government, company, and rescue teams to ensure their safe return. The Chief Minister assured ongoing support for the workers as they return home after the harrowing experience in the Silkyara Tunnel.
