Pune, Dec 8 – The city police on Thursday took action against two thieves under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA) Act for allegedly stealing gold chains from women walkers.
When a victim woman was passing-by in front of her office, two men on a two-wheeler allegedly snatched the gold chain (mangalsutra) from around her neck.


Following this incident, a case under sections 392 and 34 of Indian Penal Code had been registered against the unknown accused at the Khadki police station.


After investigating crime, police arrested the gang leader Yogesh alias Sam Jagdish Sonwane (23) and Rahul Machhindra Kamble (24) and recovered the mangalsutra and a motorbike used for committing theft from their possession.


Investigation revealed that the accused had stolen this bike from under limits of the Kothrud police station.
A proposal to incorporate section 3(1)(ii), 3(2), 3(4) of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, in the case registered at Khadki Police Station was submitted to the additional commissioner of police, Eastern Regional Division, Ranjan Kumar Sharma, who gave an approved. The action was taken by city commissioner of police Ritesh Kumar.
