Srinagar, Dec 11 – Srinagar experienced the coldest night of the season, with temperatures plummeting to -4.8°C on Monday, as an intense cold wave continues to sweep the Kashmir valley. The Meteorological Office reported that the minimum temperature in Srinagar was 4.2°C below normal for this time of the season.

The maximum temperature recorded at Srinagar was 0.6°C above the normal of 10.5°C. Pahalgam, a popular tourist spot in south Kashmir, saw an improvement in the minimum temperature at -4.7°C. Qazigund on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway witnessed a further dip in night temperature at -3.4°C. The meteorological office forecasts dry and cold weather till December 16, with the minimum temperature expected to further decrease during this period.
