Kakinada, Dec 13 – The special squad of the regional vigilance and enforcement wing headed by A Suresh Babu on a tip-off, raided a residential premises in Vakatippa village of Uppada Kothapalli mandal near here on Tuesday and seized 24 bags of Public distribution rice weighing 1006 kgs and valued at Rs.80,240.


The premises owner Gota Dharmaraju who is a trader reportedly buys PDS rice from ration card holders at Rs.18 kg and sells them to the fishermen in neighboring villages at Rs.20 kg moving on a motorcycle daily.
The rice was seized and a case under 6-A was booked against him and referred the same to the police station for initiating criminal proceedings.


Vigilance and enforcement Inspector Jagannadha Reddy, Head Constable Devanandam, and Constable Lovakumar besides officials of revenue and civil supplies took part in the raid.
