Sangli, Oct 2: NCP MLA from Tasgaon-Kavathe Mahankal constituency, Suman Patil, on Monday launched an indefinite hunger strike in front of district collector’s office here, demanding inclusion of villages from Kavathe-Mahankal in Tembu irrigation scheme.

Ms Patil, widow of late minister R R Patil, started indefinite hunger strike on the day of Mahatama Gandhi Jayanti’ (birth anniversary) today in front of district collector’s office, in which her son and youth leader Rohit Patil is also participating along with their supporters.

Meanwhile, in a related political development, upon hearing the news of Ms Patil’s indefinite fast agitation, another MLA from the district Anil Babar somehow brought a direct approval letter from the government for the expanded Tembu irrigation scheme, but Ms Patil announced today that she would withdraw her ongoing hunger strike only when the administration gives her a copy of the letter of approval.

Notably, Ms Patil had announced to launch indefinite hunger strike last week demanding for eight tmc water from Tembu irrigation scheme for the villages.
