Sangli, Nov 01 – In a joint operation, the Andhra Pradesh police and the Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested the main suspect in a robbery case and recovered a total of four kg gold worth Rs 2.40 crore.

Acting on a tip, a joint team of LCB and Andhra Pradesh police laid a trap at Limb village in Sangli district. They apprehended the main suspect, Nitin Pandurang Jadhav (35), a resident of Karve in Khanapur tehsil. The arrest was related to a robbery case in Tanuku, West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh.

During the search, the police found golden ornaments and gold worth Rs 2,40,50,000. Three other suspects had already been arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police in connection with the same case.

The robbery, carried out by Suraj Kumbhar and his colleagues at Namdev Gurunath Devkar’s shop in Tanuku, resulted in the theft of golden ornaments and gold. While the police had recovered gold and ornaments valued at Rs 1.77 crore from Suraj Kumbhar and his colleagues, the main suspect, Jadhav, had remained absconded.

In this joint action, LCB Inspector Satish Shinde, Andhra Pradesh police DYSP C Sarath Rajkumar, C H Ananevelu, C H Vankteshrao, and D Adinarayan participated under the supervision of Sangli District Superintendent of Police Dr. Basavraj Teli.
