Mumbai, Nov 27 – Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Sunday that Jalyukta Shivar will be implemented in mission mode by making it a public movement.
He made this announcement during the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Art of Living Centre to speed up second phase of Jalyukta Shivar in the state.
The Department of Agriculture also entered into an MoU with the Human Development Centre regarding natural farming in the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar were present at the event held at a city hotel.
Under the Jalyukta Shivar agreement, in 86 talukas of 24 districts silt removal, deepening of water sources, widening of rivers, construction of cement dams, farm ponds will be done over a period of next three years.
As per agreement with the Agriculture Department, the Person Development Centre in the state will coordinate with the Agriculture department to carry out organic and natural farming, manpower development, training of farmers, conversion of existing conventional agriculture based on chemicals and fertilisers to natural agriculture.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar also spoke on this occasion.
