Nagpur, Dec 19 – Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde on Monday thanked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, on behalf of farmers, for taking the decision to give three hectares of aid to farmers in the state.


Speaking in a short discussion, Shinde said that a great relief has been given to farmers of Maharashtra who are suffering due to natural calamities.


Considering all the factors whether it is drought, heavy rain or hailstorm, the state farmers were in dire straits, he said.


Speaking to media after big announcement, the Minister said that it has been decided to provide additional Rs 13,600 per hectare assistance to all farmers by increasing one hectare over prevailing two hectares.
This is in addition to what the Chief Minister has provided assistance of Rs 27,000 per hectare to farmers whose horticultural produce had been damaged by heavy rains or hailstorm, and Rs 36,000 per hectare for perennial crops, he informed.
Munde described today’s decision as ‘historic’ by any government in Maharashtra till date.
