Malappuram, Dec 16 – Five people were killed, including four of a family, and four injured when an autorickshaw collided with a tourist bus carrying Sabarimala devotees from Karnataka near Chettiyangadi, near Manjeri, on Friday.


According to the police, all the deceased were auto passengers, including two women, two children, and the auto rickshaw driver.


The deceased were identified as Muhasina, Thasneema, her daughters Raiza (3) and Moly (7), and auto driver Abdul Majeed, all hailing from Kuttipara near Manjeri in the district.
The four injured were admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.


The incident took place around 1730 hrs at Chettiyangadi, when nine members, mostly children from a family, were traveling in an autorickshaw to their relatives house, collided with a tourist bus carrying Sabarimala devotees from Karnataka, police said.
No bus passengers were injured in the accident. The bodies of the victims were shifted to Manjeri Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
