Belagavi, Dec 6 – A day after an attack on BJP leader Prithvi Singh, the Belagavi city police on Tuesday registered an FIR against Congress MLC Channaraj Hattiholi, despite rubbishing the incident.
The BJP leader was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon near his residence located at Hindalga, outskirts of Belagavi city.

The incident gained importance since Hattiholi is Karnataka Woman and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar’s brother, and took place on Day 1 of the winter session of the state legislature here.
The police lodged the FIR against Hattiholi after Prithvi Singh accused him and four others of assaulting him. Other accused in the case are Hattiholi’s two gunmen and his assistants Sadham and Sujit Jadhav, police said.

Prithvi Singh is a close aide of BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi. Soon after the assault on the BJP leader, the state party president Vijayendra Yediyurappa met the victim in the hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

Vijayendra accused Hattiholi and his aides for the heinous attack on Prithvi Singh.
