Nagpur, Dec 16 – Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the existing police training capacity in the state will be doubled.


He was replying to a question raised by member Ravindra Waikar in the state legislative assembly during question hour.


He said that the biggest recruitment of 23,000 policemen has been done in the state. The police training capacity of the state is 8000. As this capacity is less, training is given in batches. The existing police training capacity in the state will be doubled.


Fadnavis said that police recruitment will be done after reviewing the training system in the state. Arrangements will be made for candidates to apply for recruitment in a single district.
As per the Supreme Court judgment, the waiting list of candidates is for one year. After that, they cannot be considered. But the candidates who are selected, there is no ‘age bar’. So they have no reason to fear, they will be admitted.


Police station information of private police pre-training center in the state will be collected.
For training center in the state Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be done. It will be checked whether the testing centers are functioning as per the rules in the SOP.
In Nalasopara, a private training center named Vijay Bhava was found to be sexually abusing female trainees. A case has been registered in this matter, said Fadnavis.
