Belagavi, Dec 5 – Karnataka Congress MLC Channaraj Hattiholi, brother of Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, allegedly stabbed a BJP leader Prithvi Singh near his residence here on Monday evening.

Singh has allegedly suffered injuries on his hands and back, and has been admitted to the KLE hospital. This incident took place on the first day of winter session in the city.
Singh, who is a BJP state executive member, has been admitted to KLE Hospital.
“We just got the information. We are verifying the details and trying to find out if Hattiholi was even there at the spot. We have not received any police complaints,” Belagavi Police Commissioner Siddaramappa said.

Allegations have been levelled by Singh, he said, adding that as per CCTV footage, there ensued heated argument between Hattiholi’s bodyguards and Singh.
The 55 years old Singh released a video alleging that Hattiholi had sent his men to kill him. “Two persons stabbed me, but I escaped and survived,” he said.
Singh also released a video clip in which he is seen visited by some persons, said to be Hattiholi’s followers.

Laxmi Hebbalkar denied the allegations by saying, Singh is doing it to malign Hattiholi and her family. “Yes, some of our followers visited Singh’s house to collect some documents. But during the visit, Singh is seen wearing an orange T-shirt. After some time he released a video wearing a white shirt sprinkled with red colour. He is doing this only to malign us,” she said.
A few months ago, Belagavi police had questioned Singh in connection with a person’s death who reportedly named him in his death note. No charges were pressed on him later.
