Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dec 14 – Two Central teams comprising top bureaucrats arrived in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district of Maharashtra on Wednesday for monitoring the drought affected areas.


According to official sources, the central teams consist of 12 senior officials from nine ministries.
A meeting was held at the Divisional Commissioner’s office in Pune on Tuesday in the presence of the central team which reached the state on Tuesday. The two Central teams were formed after the meeting.
In this meeting, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Divisional Commissioner Madhukarraje Ardad gave information about the drought situation of four districts of Marathwada division.


The two teams will visit some villages in nine talukas and interact with farmers.
One team will visit Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna and the other team will visit some talukas and villages of Beed and Dharashiv districts.


After the two-day trip, the central team will submit its report to the government to take decision regarding financial assistance to the affected farmers .
Notably, this year the region of Marathwada experienced scanty rainfall which had affected the Kharif crop. The recent unseasonal rains damaged the Rabii crop as well as horticulture lands.
